Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hunts a killer for Audible, and more Game of Thrones news
By Dan Selcke
Game of Thrones veteran Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) is teaming with Amazon’s Audible for Mask of Sanity, an audio adventure that tells the true story of Bulgarian journalist Dimiter Kenarov, who reports on a serial killer while he hides a secret of his own. Coster-Waldau will play Kenarov, according to Deadline.
Coster-Waldau will co-produce the show himself through his Ill Kippers Productions banner, alongside producing partner and writer Joe Derrick. “Mask of Sanity is a great example of the storytelling that Joe Derrick and myself want Ill Kippers to make,” he said in a statement. “Entertaining, unexpected and thought-provoking, keeping the audience guessing right to the end. We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with the good people at Big Light Productions and Vespucci and can’t wait to share it with listeners everywhere through Audible.”
Mask of Sanity will start airing later this year.
Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) is a detective in a new ITV series
And Coster-Waldau isn’t the only Game of Thrones veteran making headlines lately. Deadline also reports that Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) has landed the lead role in ITV’s The Tower, a three-part adaptation of Kate London’s Metropolitan Police novel Post Mortem, adapted by Homeland writer Patrick Harbinson.
Whelan plays Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins, who investigates a case involving a veteran beat cop and teenage girl who fall to their deaths of a tower in south-east London. Rookie police officer Lizzie Griffiths and a five-year-old remained on the roof, but they soon go missing. What’s going on? Only Detective Yara can find out.
Filming on The Tower has begun. And to round out this celebrity round-up, here’s Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) in a couple of ad stills for fancy watches:
