Michael Dorn (possibly) returning to Star Trek as Worf
Michael Dorn tweeted that he’s being called “back into action,” but will it be to return as Worf? The actor has made it clear he’s ready and willing to return to the Star Trek Universe if the right opportunity presents itself. His message on Twitter has fans wondering if this is the moment they’ve been waiting for.
Dorn posted the following tweet on April 19: “Just got the news, being summoned back into action. Starfleet calls.” Naturally, this had fans thrilled at the possibility that Worf could be making a comeback, possibly on Star Trek: Picard or Star Trek: Discovery.
The mystery of a potential return for Worf deepened, according to IGN, after a rep for Paramount+ seemed to deny that Worf is coming back. “Unfortunately, I can confirm that this has nothing to do with a Star Trek Universe on Paramount+ original series,” the rep said.
The big clue, though, lies in a hashtag in the tweet.
Michael Dorn teases a return to Starfleet, but not Star Trek
At the end of the tweet, Dorn uses the hashtag “ad.” If Paramount+ can’t confirm his return to a Star Trek series, he’s very likely doing something outside of the studio.
He could be doing an appearance at a convention, or even a marketing campaign. At one point Dorn made a cameo appearance in a fan-made series, Star Trek Online, where he voiced a computer. Dorn is currently one of the many talented actors working on Robert Kirkman’s Invincible series on Amazon Prime.
The bottom line is that although Dorn has shown great interest in appearing in a new series, even the Captain Worf series he has been pitching, the franchise’s favorite Klingon doesn’t seem to be proclaiming “Qapla’” just yet.
With several new Trek series and a movie in the works, there are still plenty of opportunities for Worf to make an appearance somewhere in the expanded Star Trek Universe. It’s just a matter of being patient…though that word seems to be missing from the Klingon dictionary.
