Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) talks about becoming a new mom.

Game of Thrones fans will always remember Natalie Dormer as the clever Margaery Tyrell, the queen of Westeros who was blown to pieces at the Sept of Baelor before she could fully come into her power. If given more time, Margaery would have given children to King Tommen Baratheon, securing her place as queen and almost certainly ruling Westeros wisely and well.

Margaery never got the chance to have kids, but Natalie Dormer recently revealed on the That’s After Life podcast that she recently had a child with her partner David Oakes! “The perfect thing to do in a pandemic is get pregnant and have a baby,” Dormer said. “She’s 12 weeks, she’s just three months. She’s an absolute joy.”

"I’m never going to complain about shooting hours ever again because the sleep deprivation is something else…You hear people say, oh your whole perspective on life will change, and your whole set of value systems will alter, and you sort of roll your eyes as a childless person, and go yeah, yeah . . . you don’t know the true meaning of life until you’ve had a baby, and then you have one and you go, oh, wow. It really does completely alter the lens."

I’m impressed that Dormer managed to keep this under wraps for the past few months!

Anyway, congratulations and best of luck to Dormer, Oakes and their new daughter. Long may she reign.
