See what Sam Heughan looks like as James Bond in convincing video
By Ariba Bhuvad
Daniel Craig’s final turn as British super-spy James Bond will come in No Time To Die, which comes out on October 8 of this year. That means the hunt is on for a potential replacement, and lots of fans think it should be Outlander star Sam Heughan. He’s definitely enjoyed the support, subtly (and sometimes not so subtly) hinting that he would love to take over for Craig when the time comes.
Is Sam Heughan going to be the next James Bond?
We have no confirmation on that front whatsoever. But as I mentioned, Heughan basks in the speculation that he might be. During an interview with Esquire, he shared that he actually auditioned for the role in the past, before Casino Royale came out in 2006. “I actually have auditioned for James Bond back when they were rebooting Bond 2,” he said. “When Daniel Craig came on board, they were talking about making him younger.”
It’s been well over a year now since this speculation started, and Heughan has stirred the pot once again. It started when website Just Jared ran a poll asking fans who they think the next Bond should be. As expected, Heughan came in at number one with nearly 77% of the vote, with Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page taking the number two spot with almost 14%.

So there’s no one who came even close to Heughan. The Outlander star joined in on the fun by sharing a video created in the Reface App, with his face swapped in for Bond’s during a montage of his greatest adventures:
If we didn’t already think he was the next guy for the job, this video pretty much confirms it. But as much as fans want to see him be the next James Bond, I think there are a lot of people out there that are ready to see a female finally take on the mantle.
Unfortunately, hope for that dwindled when series producer Barbara Broccoli talked about it to Variety early in 2020:
"He can be of any color, but he is male. I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that."
Well, if it isn’t going to be a badass woman in the role, we’ll take Sam Heughan for our next Bond!
