Emilia Clarke sues magazine over inappropriate use of photos of her

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is suing Flaunt magazine for misusing photos of her taken in 2019.
Game of Thrones veteran Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) has filed suit against Flaunt magazine, for which she took photos that appeared in the publication’s June 2019 issue. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the original agreement between Clarke and Flaunt provided that the photos could be used in that issue, and for a pre-approved marketing event in Shanghai. Clarke would have to provide written permission for any other sort of use.
However, according to the lawsuit, Flaunt went on to work with Chinese cosmetics company Perfect Diary, and gave the impression that the company could use the photos of Clarke — as well as Clarke’s voice, name and likeness — to promote their products and their brand.
Clarke’s objection is that Flaunt gave the impression that she had consented to work with Perfect Diary when she had not — in fact, she’s previously rejected a $700,000 deal to work directly with them. Because it appeared she was working with Perfect Diary, Clarke claims she lost out on business with other companies, including one that was in negotiations with her for a million-dollar deal.
Clarke claims that she and her team repeatedly demanded that Flaunt cease and desist their behavior, but that they “brazenly refused to curtail or remedy all of its wrongful conduct.” So she brought the lawsuit, where she is seeking compensatory and statutory damages to the tune of $5 million.
Outside the courtroom, Emilia Clarke has a lot going on, including a foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
