Star Wars boss Dave Filoni teases the third season of The Mandalorian, which is going into uncharted territory. “There’s a lot of new adventures coming up.”

It’s been a couple of years since Disney wrapped up the Star Wars sequel trilogy with The Rise of Skywalker, but that hasn’t meant a cessation of Star Wars content. If anything, the press has only increased, with both The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch premiering on Disney+. And that’s only the beginning for Disney; the studio has lot of Star Wars TV shows and movies in the works for fans to enjoy.

But it may be hard for them to top The Mandalorian, the first-ever live-action Star Wars show. Fans were instantly taken with the story of hard-scrabble bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his tiny companion Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. The standalone adventures were refreshing, the supporting cast was likable, and the second season ended on a cliffhanger as Luke Skywalker himself took Grogu away to train him in the ways of the Force and Din apparently inherited the rulership of the planet Mandalore.

Season 3 promises to be very different, particularly with Din and Grogu separated for the first time since the series began, but creator Dave Filoni has high hopes. “There’s a lot of new adventures coming up,” he recently said on Good Morning America. “I have to be careful, I can’t really say anything specific, but I think the Force will be strong with this, let’s just say that.”

When The Mandalorian premiered, it was the only Star Wars show in town. Soon enough it’ll have to compete with the likes of The Book of Boba FettRangers of the New Republic, the Ahsoka Tano show, the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, the Lando Calrissian show, The Acolyte and more. I worry a bit about The Mandalorian getting diminished, especially if Disney plans to span storylines across various shows, but we’ll see what happens when season 3 premieres in 2022.

Next. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will explore the rise of the Empire. dark
