Ms. Marvel is one of several Marvel shows coming to Disney+ over the next few years. It’s all about Kamala Khan, a young woman who comes into tremendous power and decides to use it to fight for good.

New characters like Kamala could provide a way forward for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as older heroes (and actors) age out of the superhero business. And now, Just Jarad has released the first photos of actor Iman Vellani in her Ms. Marvel get-up, complete with black mask over her eyes and a yellow zig-zag down the front of her red-and-green costume. Check out the photos here.

When does Ms. Marvel premiere on Disney+?

Although we don’t have an exact release date for Ms. Marvel, the plan is to debut the show later this year, which means 2021 is pretty packed for the studio. We’ve already seen WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and have yet to see LokiHawkeye and What If…? If Marvel has things its way, we won’t go another minute without visiting the MCU from now on.

Not that they’re forgetting about the movies. Marvel Studios has big plans for Kamala Khan. She’ll appear alongside obvious inspiration Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in The Marvels, which is due out on November 11, 2022. It’s part of an ambitious plan from Marvel that will have fans ping-ponging between TV and the movies if they want to get the full MCU experience.

Honestly, I can see a scenario where it becomes too much and people start buckling under the pressure of having to watch so much content in order to keep up. But for now, Iman Vellani looks great as Ms. Marvel, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to the role.
