Edward Norton, Dave Bautista joins cast of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2

Dave Bautista is joining the cast of Knives Out 2, the sequel to Rian Johnson’s 2019 murder mystery  hit. Deadline reports that Bautista is one of the first cast members announced for the sequel, which will film this summer in Greece.

The plot for the Knives Out sequel is unknown at this point, and it’s unclear what role Bautista will play. The only thing we know is that Knives Out 2 will feature the return of Craig’s silver-tongued sleuth Benoit Blanc in a new mystery adventure.

Dave Bautista jumps from Guardians of the Galaxy to Knives Out 2

Johnson, who wrote and directed the 2019 mystery thriller that captivated audiences with its razor-sharp wit and colorful cast of characters, recently signed a massive $400 million deal to develop two sequels to the original movie. Daniel Craig will appear in both.

The timing couldn’t be better for Bautista, who recently hinted on Twitter that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be the last time he brings Drax to life on the big screen. Though Guardians director James Gunn doesn’t want to see anyone else in the role, Bautista points out that he’ll be 54 and “sagging” when the third installment premieres and it might be time to step back from the character.

The Knives Out sequel sounds like a great fit for Bautista, who can play dry humor with ease. His Guardians of the Galaxy character Drax is a very literal fellow and it would be fun to see Johnson write lines that give Bautista room to play up his comedic side.

This will be Bautista’s second project with Netflix. He’ll appear in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which debuts May 21, and he’s also slated to appear in Jason Momoa’s See on Apple TV.

UPDATE: And now, The Hollywood Reporter has it that Academy Award nominee Edward Norton (Fight ClubBirdman) has also joined the cast. We don’t know who he’s playing either. The plot thickens.
