Apparently George Washington looked like Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones
By Dan Selcke
A Redditor has made “a photorealistic image of George Washington if he lived in the present day” and the result is giving people Game of Thrones flashbacks.
Photography didn’t exist during the lifetime of General George Washington, the first president of the United States, but portraiture existed, so most Americans have an idea of what they guy looked like.
But why should we settle at that? Redditor KingBaboon97 set out to create “a photorealistic image of George Washington if he lived in the present day,” with this as the result:
"I created a photorealistic image of George Washington if he lived in the present day. from interestingasfuck"
So that’s George Washington if he were running today in the eighth congressional district of Virginia or whatever. I can buy it: I doubt not many congressmen of his age would try the long hair look today.
Also, is it just me or does he kind of look like Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones? And I can answer my own question: it’s not just me, as plenty of Redditors wondered the same thing, completely with fun puns. (“The colonies send their regards.” “Virginians always pays their debts.”) And if you don’t see it, check out this side by side comparison:
And now, a combined effort on the parts of Redditors werejustriffingpaul and TheHongKOngadian to rewrite “The Rains of Castamere” to make it fit this milieu:
"And who are you, the British lord said, that I must make tea cheapYou’re only some Yanks who have boarded our boat, and bleat about tax like sheepIn coat of blue, or coat of red, a soldier still fights warsAnd out bayonets are sharp, Yankee, as long and sharp as yoursAnd so he spoke, and so he spokeThe Lord of DelawareBut now the snows fall down on Trenton, with no Hessians to hearYea, now the snows fall down on Trenton, with not a Hessian to hear…"
Insert slow clap here.
For next time, did you know that Thomas Jeffreson looked a lot like Stannis Baratheon?
