Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the comic book character(s) he’d like to play
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is no stranger to comic book movies. He starred as Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and before that he portrayed The Comedian in the 2009 Watchmen movie. Now that The Walking Dead — which is also based on a comic book series — is winding down, he’s talking about some of the projects he’d love to take on in the future, which includes more comic book parts.
Speaking to CinePOP, Morgan named Batman as his dream character to play. He also says that he’d been interested in playing DC Comics’ infamous anti-hero Lobo, too.
Rumors have swirled about the possibility of Morgan reprising his role as Thomas Wayne in The Flash, which is based on the Flashpoint story from the comics which deals with an alternate universe version of Thomas Wayne’s Batman in an alternate universe. Though Morgan was very open to the idea, it looks like it never got off the ground.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan hints at possible new comic book project
Though playing Batman might be out (for now), Morgan teased that he’s working on landing a new gig and it could be tied to comic books. “I have something maybe cooking,” he said, “and I’ll let you know soon if that turns out to be, but I love the world of comic books and hope that I get to stay playing in this world for a long time.”
Morgan is entering the last season of The Walking Dead, which is set to bow in 2022. That means his schedule will be open for new projects.
Lobo would be a fascinating character for Morgan because he’s a lot like Negan, so it’s easy to imagine what he could bring to the table. The foul-mouthed interplanetary mercenary has a penchant for getting into trouble, but he also has a sense of duty and likes defending the little guys.
Morgan’s mystery role could mean any number of projects, including roles at Marvel or DC. The possibilities are endless. No matter where he lands he will make the role great.
