Watch the trailer for Peacock’s Dan Brown adaptation The Lost Symbol
By Dan Selcke
Peacock is adapting The Lost Symbol for TV, from The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown. It’s like Indiana Jones or National Treasure, but more polite.
Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code came out nearly 20 years ago, thrilling beach-goers everywhere with its tale of a Harvard academic Robert Langdon stopping a global conspiracy by decoding symbols in the Mona Lisa and whatnot. Several books later and he’s still at it, and Peacock wants in. It’s adapting Brown’s third Robert Langdon book The Lost Symbol as a TV series starring Succession star as the lead character, and it just released a trailer. Check it out:
Just listen to that scintillating dialog. “How’s your Latin?” “Not as good as my Arabic.” Now we’re cooking.
But really, it looks fun, kind of like Indiana Jones but if Indiana Jones was more of a tweedy dork. Also, this particular adaptation will be set before The Da Vinci Code or any of the other books in Brown’s series, so if it’s a success, Peacock can turn it into a long-running series. How many evil global conspiracies can Robert Langdon stop with his knowledge of historical symbols? More than you’d think.
And if this doesn’t sound like your particular brand of archeology-infused adventure, don’t worry: Disney is making a National Treasure series as well:
