Tom Hiddleston gave a crash course on Loki to the entire cast
By Ariba Bhuvad
Who better than Tom Hiddleston himself to teach the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series all about Loki, the Norse God of mischief?
The Marvel TV show train is moving on with Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston as the eponymous God of Mischief. Loki has long been a fan favorite about MCU fans, so a series based entirely on around him has many ecstatic beyond belief, particularly if Tom Hiddleston is bringing his trademark charm to the character.
Recently, series director Kate Herron spoke with Entertainment Weekly about filming the series, and how she asked Hiddleston to brief the rest of the cast on his iconic character. Basically, Hiddleston took everyone to Loki school. “I asked him to basically talk through his 10 years of the MCU — from costumes to stunts, to emotionally how he felt in each movie. It was fantastic.”
As for who passed “Loki School” with flying colors? That would be Hiddleston’s co-star Owen Wilson, who is playing Mobius, an employee of the Time Variance Authority that has taken Loki prisoner. Hiddleston himself gave Wilson high marks:
"[…] I remember saying this to him: ‘On the 88 keys on the piano, he can play the twinkly light keys at the top. He can keep it witty and light, and he’s the God of Mischief, but he can also go down to the other side and play the heavy keys. And he can play some really profound chords down there, which are about grief and betrayal and loss and heartbreak and jealousy and pride."
Did you get all of that, folks?
And just in case you’d like to go to Loki school yourself, here’s Hiddleston recapping Loki’s entire MCU story in 30 seconds:
The upcoming Loki series will star the version of Loki that vanished with the Space Stone during the Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame. It’s not the version we’d come to know by the end of Thor: Ragnarok and at the start of Avengers: Infinity War. This is a different version of Loki who hasn’t grown as much as a character, which means he’s still very much up for some mischief.
The story involves Loki getting reprimanded for messing with the timeline of the universe and forced to help the TVA (Time Variance Authority) fix his mistakes.
It’s going to be a wild ride indeed, and something we haven’t seen before, which is what I love about these Disney+ series. I will go as far as to say that if we thought WandaVision was a hoot, Loki is about to blow it right out of the water when it officially premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 9.
