Outlander season 6 will have “very traumatic and very emotional” scenes
By Ariba Bhuvad
Outlander fans are anxiously awaiting the end of this ridiculously long Droughtlander. While we don’t have a premiere date for season 6 yet, executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis have started an official Outlander podcast, so we can at least sate ourselves on that while we wait for the show proper. Roberts and Davis are providing updates on the season 6 production, answering fan questions, and reminiscing about seasons pasts.
The two had a lot to say during the first episode of the podcast, including what fans can expect from the sixth season premiere. It sounds like we’ll have to brace ourselves for what lies ahead.
What will Outlander season 6 be about?
The fifth season of Outlander ended on a very difficult note, with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) having recently been assaulted. She has a lot of healing to do. According to Roberts and Davis, season 6 has “very traumatic and very emotional” scenes, although it’s unclear exactly what that entails.
"Certainly this season, we’ve had a lot of moments. There are some very traumatic and very emotional times. It’s a difficult season for Jamie and Claire and everyone."
There are three new additions to the cast this season including Mark Lewis Jones (Thomas Christie), Jessica Reynolds (Malva Christie), and Alexander Vlahos (Allan Christie), who are playing members of the Christie family. If you’ve read the books, you know their presence at Fraser’s Ridge leads to some tricky conflicts.
Davis also addressed comments made by both Gabaldon and Vlahos about an “incredible” scene coming in season 6. She confirmed that she knew what scene they were referring to and that she agrees with their appraisals. As for what that scene is about, both producers are remaining mum on that subject, but book fans have a decent idea of what’s to come. “It might involve the Christies, let’s put it that way,” Davis hinted.
And as for the rest of us? We are ready for whatever happens, even if that means gloom, doom, and the Revolutionary War.
