Jack Quaid (Hughie) previews “insane” third season of The Boys

Season 3 of Amazon Prime Video’s subversive superhero show The Boys is coming, and we can’t wait for more mega-violent, blood-soaked action. According to lead actor Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), the new season contains some “insane, insane” moments.

The first two seasons of The Boys offered up some of the most twisted scenes we’ve seen from any superhero show ever. Blood and gore have very much become a signature for the show. What they have in store for the third installment has got to be pretty crazy indeed. We already know that they’re adapting the “Herogasm” storyline from the comics, which is as wild as it sounds.  In fact, speaking with Collider, star Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk) teased the new season uses triple the amount of fake blood compared to season 2. “We’re already at three and a half gallons of blood,” he said. Now that’s a lot of blood!

Jack Quaid is on the fence regarding how he feels about the excessive violence. While it makes for some exciting television, it’s also very disturbing. “In the world of The Boys, people are covered in blood all the time and screaming,” Quaid told Inverse in a recent interview. “It’s all terrible: fun to watch, but terrible!”

As expected, he remains very tight-lipped on details for the third season. “I can’t say anything about it. We are doing some insane, insane stuff this season. No one is okay.”

The actor also played it coy over on his Instagram. Posing a picture of himself wearing a The Boys season 3 hat, he captioned it with, “Read between the lines, Theo. Read between the LINES!”

“We’re hard @ work on S3 but the only thing I can show you is this hat,” he continued. “Rest assured though, this is our craziest one yet.”

Showrunner Eric Kripke shares his reaction to The Boys season 3 premiere!

Filming on the third season started at the end of February, and things seem to be progressing smoothly.  Last week, showrunner Eric Kripke shared a tweet of his reaction to the season premiere. In short, he’s quite literally mind-blown. And by that I mean he shared a GIF of Alastair Adana’s brutal death by spontaneous combustion in the season 2 finale.

In the tweet, he refers to the episode as both “really special,” and “insane.” We’re sensing a theme.

There’s still no confirmed release date for the third season of The Boys. While we’re waiting, seasons one and two are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video!
