Hats off to the Lucifer writers for not leaving fans in a lurch with a massive cliffhanger at the end of Lucifer season 5 part 2. Now that season 5 has come to an end, it’s time to think about how the story sets up season 6.

There are several big stories that will follow the show into season 6: Lucifer becoming god, Lucifer revealing his feelings for Chloe and the quest to figure out where Dan’s soul ended up after Michael set things into motion to send Dan to hell instead of heaven.

Now that he is god (as far as we can tell, anyway), he will need to focus his energy on the Silver City. Will he be able to remain on earth? Chloe already gave her notice to the police department so she’s technically free to follow her love elsewhere, but now that Dan is gone it sets up the question of what will happen with Trixie.

Lucifer season 5 sets up so many questions for season 6

Fans were given a glimpse of what heaven looks like when Lucifer risked everything to save Chloe, who’d been picnicking with her father on a sunny day. But will the show move its focus from the City of Angels to the Silver City for the final season?

It’s hard to imagine such a big jump for the show, so it’s more likely that Lucifer will try his best to rule from LA rather than relocate to heaven, especially now that Chloe has to focus on Trixie more than ever.

With help from Amenadiel and Maze, Lucifer could lead the search for Dan’s soul from LA and deputize his siblings to watch over the Silver City. Maze can certainly handle things in hell, and that includes keeping an eye on Michael should Lucifer send him there for a much needed time-out.

When he’s not ruling over heaven or trying to find Dan, Lucifer will be working on his relationship with Chloe now that they have both put their feelings on the table. Where will it lead? That’s the big question. Will there be a happy ever after for the charming former devil and the love of his life?

Let’s hope.

As much as fans love how the writers stretch out a slow burn like no one’s business, season 6 is the final season. Now is not the time to introduce new arcs, but rather to button-up stories so that everyone is in place for the finale. At this point, the whole cast deserves a happy ending and now that Lucifer is god you know he’ll be working hard to make sure it happens.
