Filming of season 5 of The Last Kingdom is currently underway. As with the first four seasons, shooting is mainly based in Budapest, Hungary. And while the cast and crew have been more tight lipped about the show’s final season than in years past, no production is truly safe from leaks and spoilers.

But before we get to those, may we present Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred) cuddling with a cat in the hair-and-makeup room. You’re welcome.

Dreymon delaying filming to pet a cat is the best thing ever.

Elsewhere, Uhtred’s loyal wingman Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius) makes a very important request of the fans:

Sihtric and the Bebbanburgs?

OK, OK, you’re here for the SPOILERS, so let’s get into them below.

First up, Dreymon shared a photo in praise of the camera crew. Look in the back and see if you can make out the person behind him.

Yep, that is Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith). Butterworth confirmed her appearance in season 5 with an image posted to her Instagram Stories:

Last we saw Aelswith, she’d been poisoned at the hands of the conniving Aethelhelm, and season 4 ended without making it clear whether she lived or died. Well, it looks she recovers. What that means for Aethelhelm is anyone’s guess, but we assume Aelswith’s son King Edward will have a thing or two to say about someone poisoning his mother.

And that’s not the only SPOILER we have on hand! Just the other day, Joseph Millson, who plays Uhtred’s dastardly uncle Aelfric, shared an image of himself in Budapest:

Of course, Aelfric was killed by his own son, Wihtgar, last season. It’s possible that Millson is just returning to Budapest to visit his former castmates or even on vacation, but he may also be playing Aelfric again for a flashback or dream sequence, possibly akin to the one Uhtred’s late comrade Leofric appeared in during season 3. Or perhaps Millson is returning to film Aelfric’s funeral sequence.

Either way, as Millson notes he’s in Budapest for a “fly by night acting thing,” which would line up with a quick appearance in a vision or at his funeral. Color us intrigued.

Stay tuned for more as The Last Kingdom continues to wrap up filming on its final season of the show. Destiny is all!
