Karen Gillan as Poison Ivy

Karen Gillan is one of the more common names you’ll hear when talking about who should play Poison Ivy, and for good reason. If it came down to a popular vote, she’d be right up there. At 33, she’s a similar age to Margot Robbie, which would help sell their relationship. Plus, she looks the part, right?

There may be a slight conflict of interests since Gillan is known for playing Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. It’s likely that we’ll see her conclude Nebula’s arc in the third Guardians installment, although she could still show up in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe after that. Regardless, should she find time in her busy schedule, portraying Poison Ivy would be the perfect role for her.

Poison Ivy is an altogether different villain to Nebula, but they do have similarities; they both have a lot of anger, for one thing, although Ivy tends to keep her’s at a low boil while Nebula is more explosive. Beyond Marvel, Gillan also played companion Amy Pond in Doctor Who, where she rocked a full head of red hair.

Gillen also has the wit to help Ivy’s humorous side shine through. Just look at her role as Ruby Roundhouse in Jumanji above. Like we said, she’s a popular choice among fans for a reason.
