Tom Felton would “abso-bloody-lutely” play Draco Malfoy again

Tom Felton began his journey as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies way back in 2001, playing the character throughout all eight films. That’s a lot of time to play one character, especially as a young actor. For some, the role could begin to feel stale after a while. But Harry Potter has a magical way of enduring, and Felton recently revealed to People that he would “abso-bloody-lutely” return as the Slytherin wizard.

“If you’re asking me will I dye my hair blonde again to be Draco, abso-bloody-lutely,” Felton enthused. “Either [him or Lucius]. I’ll play Draco’s kid if you really want! Any chance to be a Malfoy again would be greatly accepted.”

Warner Bros. Discovery is rumored to be in the very early stages of developing its own live-action Harry Potter TV series. If they need a Lucius Malfoy, it seems like they have a natural pick in the 33-year-old Felton.

After a decade of playing Draco, Felton says he feels “a bit of ownership” over the character. “I do feel if someone else played [Draco], I’d be slightly possessive, going, ‘Hang on.’” You may be surprised to hear that, according to IMDb statistics, Felton only portrayed Draco for a grand total of 31 minutes onscreen. For such a small amount of screen time, he had a huge impact, remembered by fans even 20 years later.

"I was speaking to Rupert [Grint], Daniel and Emma [Watson] separately the other day and [said], ‘Twenty years, can you imagine that?’ First of all, they all look the bloody same, literally. Rupert looks exactly the same. Also, we’re all sort of a bit flabbergasted that it’s [even] more popular [now]. We’re all a bit surprised by that. We’re certainly excited, and made to feel old when we realize that it was 20 years ago that we made the first film."

It’s so lovely to know that the cast is all still friends so many years after working together in the Harry Potter movies. Maybe the future holds more Hogwarts adventures? Felton, at least, is down for it!

Tom Felton addresses Emma Watson romance speculation.

Speaking of the cast members still being in contact, a rumor fans have talked about for some time is a potential romance between Felton and Emma Watson (Hermione Grainger). It’s not true, but it’s persistent enough that Felton weighed in while speaking to Entertainment Tonight. “I thought my silence would speak volumes,” the actor said. “We are something, if that makes any sense, as far as we’ve been very close for a long time. I adore her. Hopefully she returns the compliment. As far as the romantic side of it, I think that’s a Slytherin-Gryffindor thing rather than a Tom and Emma thing.”

"I absolutely think the world of her. I think to be a part of what we’ve all been a part of, but for her to be the only girl, certainly the youngest one on set, to grow up with what she had to grow up with was incredibly exciting. You’re going to get me teary now, but no, I think she’s a fantastic influence on the world."

So, can we now stop this rumor and move on? Let’s hope so!
