Will Loki feature any MCU cameos?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is vast. It’s been building for over a decade, and now Marvel Studios is adding new series on Disney+ to the mix. WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier clearly tie into the MCU Phase 4, but Loki’s story is a little different. You see, Marvel’s new Loki series isn’t about the Loki we knew — Thanos killed him in Avengers: Infinity War — it’s about the Loki we saw in Avengers: Endgame, the one who escaped with the Tesseract during the time heist. Technically, this Loki is from a whole other universe, outside the timeline we’re used to.

So can we expect to see any MCU cameos in the new Loki series? If fans have learned one thing from Marvel over the years, it’s this: Never say never.

There are lots of reasons why cameos are very possible in the new Loki series, perhaps more than in any other series out there.

Fans should expect Marvel cameos in Loki

As the God of Mischief, Loki can transform into anyone he wants, including his father Odin and Chris Evans’ Captain America, as seen in Thor: The Dark World.

Though Loki is now sporting a collar courtesy of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) that likely helps keep him in line, Loki could still shift at some point in the series into someone we’ve seen before. (Or, conversely, Matt Damon as Loki could make another appearance, as he did in Thor: Ragnarok.)

Loki will spend his new show helping the TVA repair the fractured timeline. That means he’ll be visiting a lot of points in the past, which means there’s a possibility for other characters to pop up. While Chris Hemsworth might be busy filming Thor: Love and Thunder, former members of the Asgard team could appear for a cameo, as could members of the Avengers both past and present.

An appearance from one of the Avengers would be particularly fun because this version of Loki was recently captured after wreaking havoc upon New York City, so in their mind he’s still a bad guy. There’s also a chance that characters from the future (or near-present) could make an appearance and realize that they’re dealing with a very different Loki than the one who fought with his brother against their sister Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.

There are plenty of opportunities for MCU cameos in Loki, but Marvel knows how to guard its secrets so fans won’t know anything until the series debuts on June 9 on Disney+.
