Netflix’s Geeked Week continues with news about the upcoming new season of Stranger Things, which has now been nearly two years in coming. In a video message, creators Matt and Ross Duffer apologize for the long wait, which is surely due in part to the coronavirus pandemic mucking up filming around the world, but also give fans a consolation prize: the introduction of new cast member Amybeth McNulty in the role of Vicki!

McNulty is best known for playing the lead role in Anne with an E, a Canadian TV series based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables. The show was cancelled after three seasons, but the Duffers are apparently fans, and now welcome McNulty into the Stranger Things fold.

Meet the new cast members of Stranger Things 4

McNulty’s character, Vicki, is “a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes.” And she’s only one of the new cast members coming aboard for season 4:

Myles Truitt is Patrick, “a Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life…until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control.” Oh, he is so eaten by interdimensional monsters.

Regina Ting Chen is Ms. Kelly, “a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students—especially those struggling the most.”

Grace Van Dien is Chrissy, a popular cheerleader hiding a dark secret.

“Everyone here is working really, really hard on this show and we can’t wait for you to see it,” said Ross Duffer. As for when we might be able to see it, they didn’t provide any answers, but smart money’s on sometime next year.

dark. Next. Everything you didn’t notice in Netflix’s teaser for The Sandman!
