Tom Hiddleston’s Loki now has a show of their very own, but won’t appear in the upcoming fourth Thor film.
It looks like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will not be in the upcoming fourth Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder. He said as much during an interview with Empire while talking about the new Disney+ series Loki, which premiered just the other day.
It’s a bummer we won’t see his Loki pop up in the ridiculously stacked cast for Thor: Love and Thunder, but the new Loki-centric series does make it go down easier. As far as why Loki will be absent from the fourth installment, Hiddelston said that they “talked about the Thor movies as a family saga” and ultimately it was decided the sibling rivalry between Thor and Loki “should remain closed for the moment.” He added that we “have explored as much as we can about these two brothers.”
I would have to agree. Marvel has dissected the complicated relationship between Loki and Thor more than a couple of times now. It’s time for things to move forward, and with Loki premiering, this character’s story is headed down a very different path that may not directly involve his godly brother.
But while Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be MIA from Thor: Love and Thunder, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be some version of Loki in it. I think most of you know I’m referring to Matt Damon’s Loki, who appeared briefly in Thor: Ragnarok. Fans may remember Damon randomly popping up in the third installment playing an actor who was playing Loki in a play that was put on by the real Loki. It was rather complicated, but Damon’s character is returning again for Thor: Love and Thunder, perhaps to perform in a play about the events of Avengers: Infinity War or Endgame?
If you’re interested in seeing the real Loki, you can enjoy his adventures every Wednesday. Sadly, there are only six episodes, but that should be more than enough time for him to get into some mischief.
