See season 2 premieres on August 27.

Get ready for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

And that’s not all Jason Momoa-related news coming out today. Let’s talk Aquaman 2.

Aquaman was the first movie in the DC Extended Universe to cross that magical $1 billion threshold at the box office, so you always knew it was getting a sequel. James Wan is returning to helm it, with stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard expected to come back as well. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II should also be back as the villainous Black Manta.

That said, we don’t know much about what they’ll be doing. But the other day, Wan shared the title, which could give us some insight. Brace yourself:

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom…sure, we’ll take it.

What “lost kingdom” are we talking here? The most obvious answer is Atlantis, the undersea kingdom Aquaman rules, but that seems a little too easy. It’s not lost if Aquaman and company are living there, right? Maybe there’s another, rival lost kingdom they’re talking about? Lemuria? MuZealandia? There are lots of options, DC, both based in actual fact and created by fun history quacks.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to drop into theaters on December 16, 2022. By then, Warner Bros. will long since have stopped releasing movies in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously…unless something changes. We’ll keep an eye out.
