Lucifer season 5 part 2 has been released into the world and the cast and crew have been sharing behind the scenes photos that were taken over the course of production. Now that filming has wrapped for the sixth and final season these photos mean so much to fans, and a new photo from Tom Ellis embodies the end of season 5 and the journey we’ve been on over the course of the pandemic.

The Lucifer cast has always been so generous with the amount of content they share from behind the scenes. They know how much the fans love seeing this exclusive content, and everyone appreciates how it helps to pass the time between seasons.

Ellis shared a photo on Instagram that features an idyllic meadow and lake. His knees are barely visible as he lounges in the sun. Fans know this is where the show filmed scenes from heaven for the season 5 finale, but it turns out this photo is very special for another reason.

Lucifer behind the scenes photo depicts pre-lockdown heaven

In the stunning photo, Ellis appears to be in heaven but the caption hints at what’s to come: “This #bts photo was taken by [show costumer Joshua Coleman] in ‘Heaven’ 2 days before we went into lockdown. I was Blissfully unaware of the ‘Hell’ that was about to ensue.”

On its own, the photo takes on new meaning after Lucifer and Chloe’s journey over the course of the season (and the entirety of the series) takes them to heaven and back.

Lucifer going to heaven to rescue Chloe was a huge step for the show but knowing that those vital scenes were filmed right before lockdown started, the literal depiction of the calm before the storm, makes the photo even more valuable.

Filming for Lucifer season 6 has wrapped and now fans await news of a release date. Though the final season will only have ten episodes, season 6 promises to be packed full of exciting moments now that Lucifer has taken over for his father in heaven. He told Chloe he loves her and Michael has been captured. All is well in the world…for now.

In many ways, Ellis’ photo is not only an ideal metaphor for life before lockdown, it is the perfect teaser for what’s coming in the final season. Everything might seem peaceful and idyllic for Lucifer at the end of season 5, but things never seem to stay that way for the handsome devil.
