Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) hypes “next-level” Thor: Love and Thunder
By Ashley Hurst
Following the mega-success of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, where the God of Thunder was paired with the Guardians of the Galaxy, fans are clamoring for more. In next year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, director Taika Waititi has honed in on the brilliant (and really funny) Asgardian-Guardians partnership, letting Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and crew mix it up with Thor (Chris Hemsworth). It’s not only fans that can’t get enough of this crossover; Pratt is excited too, calling the movie “next-level.”
“That was definitely something we found while we were doing the Avengers and people seemed to like it,” Pratt told Yahoo Movies about the team-up. In the closing moments of Endgame, Thor even suggests renaming the team to the “Asgardians of the Galaxy.”
Thor 4 will continue to build on their competitive relationship between Thor and Star-Lord. Pratt is pretty impressed at Waititi’s vision to expand things: “So [director] Taika [Waititi] had a vision for it and I think people are really going to like what we did. I think people are really gonna like that. And it picks up on that same vein, that same kind of rivalry between the two.”
On-screen rivalries aside, the two are good friends on set. “Hemsworth is great, he’s so good,” Pratt said. “People are gonna be really astounded when they see what he’s brought, what he and Taika have brought for Thor 4. It’s next-level. [Hemsworth] ratcheted it up to even another level. So I was just in awe of his presence. He is a man-god in real life. It was just cool to be there with him.”
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on May 6, 2022. That’s a long wait, but at least we have plenty of MCU movies between now and then to enjoy. And at least filming on the movie has wrapped, as Hemsworth announced on Instagram the other week:
Dave Bautista, Tessa Thompson, Karen Gillan and others will all be back for Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as newcomers like Russell Crowe. Natalie Portman will also return as Jane Foster after sitting a few movies out, becoming female Thor.
