Loki is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most mind-bending Disney+ series yet, and its first two episodes have already given viewers plenty of mysteries to think through. (SPOILERS incoming.) Perhaps the biggest question they’re currently asking is about the variant we meet at the end of the second episode played by Sophia Di Martino, aka Lady Loki.

Episode 2 sees our Loki and the Time Variance Authority embark on a mission to find the Loki variant who’s been causing the TVA so much trouble. Loki is the first to discover that it’s a female Loki variant stirring things up. And when she disappears through a portal, he follows her, despite promising Mobius he wouldn’t betray the TVA.

It’s not an unexpected move for Loki, but actor Tom Hiddleston doesn’t believe his character intended to go back on his word to Mobius. Instead, it looks like Loki’s curiosity just got the better of him.

Will Mobius trust Loki again?

Speaking with TVLine, Hiddleston suggested that Loki is just as wrapped up in all the oddities and mysteries of the TVA as Mobius is (perhaps more so, since it’s all so new to him). “Mobius is someone who, perhaps for the first time in [Loki’s] life, he thinks he might be able to trust, and perhaps trusts him, and he doesn’t want to betray that trust,” Hiddleston said. “But at the same time, he has to see what’s going on. He can’t help himself but follow, because it’s too strange and provokes so much curiosity within him.”

Even if Loki does feel a bit guilty betraying Mobius, it’s probably safe to assume the TVA isn’t going to welcome him back with open arms. The group was already hesitant to go along with Mobius’ plan to work alongside Loki, and Ravonna Renslayer was clear about what might happen if his plan fell apart.

Only time will tell what’s next for both Loki and Mobius, but both of them are likely to face some serious challenges in the coming episode. Thankfully, Wednesday isn’t that far away….

Next. After the success of Loki, Disney+ shows will air on Wednesday. dark
