The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legends…as well as legendary tattoos. Here are 20 amazing ones!

The Wheel of Time book series may have ended in 2013 with the release of A Memory of Light, but the epic fantasy story that introduced readers to heroes like Rand al’Thor and Egwene al’Vere is still as impactful today as ever. For close to three decades now, Robert Jordan’s immense and imaginative tale has been transporting readers to a world of magic and adventure. Given the sheer size, scope, and beauty of this series — 15 books, averaging out to around 700 pages each — it’s no surprise that it’s inspired some serious love among fans. Reading The Wheel of Time feels like you really are entering this other world, and living alongside its characters for a while. Which, if you think about it, kind of makes sense — many readers spends literal years with these characters over the course of reading the entire series.

It should be no surprise that Robert Jordan’s books have resonated so deeply with some fans that they’ve gone out and gotten some ink in honor of it.

One of The Wheel of Time‘s most popular symbols is its iconic chapter header that features the wheel of time intertwined with a serpent eating its own tale. It’s a bold image, and makes for an excellent tattoo:

This next fan took things a step further, and added some splashes of blood under the symbol to reference a quote from the books: “The Time of Change has come. Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is, and blood was, and blood shall ever be.” This is part of a dark prophecy that is discovered scribbled on the wall of Padain Fain’s prison cell near the beginning of The Great Hunt.
