Lucifer season 6 aims to leave fans with a “sense of peace”
Lucifer writer Chris Rafferty hopes that the show’s audience has “appreciated the journey” over the course of the past five seasons. And what a journey it has been. The show’s final season is looming and Rafferty offered a glimpse of how that journey might end in an interview with Script Magazine.
Rafferty knows that fans have been eager to learn what happens to their beloved characters, and that there are many fans who wish the story could go on forever. “I am hyper-aware of the audience’s attachment to these characters and get messages on the daily about wanting the show to last forever. But the world doesn’t work that way,” he said.
With so much riding on the sixth and final season, the writers on Lucifer had a tall task ahead of them crafting a story that will be entertaining but will also offer fans the closure they need. “All good things come to an end,” Rafferty said. “And my number one goal going into season 6 was to be mindful of that. And to help the audience find some sense of peace by the time it’s over. To focus less on dreading its end, and more on appreciating the time we have together.”
Lucifer writer hops fans get a “sense of peace” from the finale
In that sense, season 6 episodes will very likely be a mix of tying up loose ends while also exploring the consequences of everything that happened at the end of season 5. Now that Lucifer is God and he has finally confessed his love for Chloe, they can move forward with their relationship…unless something gets in their way.
Rafferty’s desire for the audience to feel at ease by the end of the season hints at an incredible final stretch in the works. Filming has wrapped and the show is in post-production, so hopefully that means Netflix will announce a premiere date soon.
