Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke knows what it means to be part of a major franchise. Beyond GoT, she played Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and she has a role in Marvel’s upcoming Secret Invasion series. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her new comic book M.O.M.: Mother of Madness, Clarke opened up about her new role and whether she’d want to stick around the MCU on a long-term basis. Might she even spend 10 years there like she did in Westeros?

“I mean, I should be so lucky is what I’ll say to that.” Clarke said. “Everyone I know and everyone I’ve spoken to who is a part of the Marvel universe – and actors talk! Everyone has only the highest praise to offer. There’s a reason why actors stay in it. They’re so loved because they’re having loads of fun. So I’m down for that. Sure!”

Emilia Clarke goes from writing a comic book to starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Now that Clarke has written her own three-issue comic book, she admits that she read the Secret Invasion comics (in preparation for her new job) with a new lens. “With every new medium, you learn a lot about it just by making something in it, and then you view that medium in a different way.”

Writing M.O.M. helped Clarke understand things like splash pages and other jargon, which now inform how she reads them. “So forever and a day, when I read a comic, I think I will have that awareness in my head, which is glorious.”

There is currently no release date for Marvel’s Secret Invasion, but the first issue of Clarke’s new comic book M.O.M.: Mother of Madness will be available July 21 from Image Comics.
