If your spider senses have been tingling lately, it’s because there have been some interesting developments with the upcoming Silk spin-off series. Sony Pictures Television has tapped former Watchman executive producer Tom Spezialy to bring the Marvel series to life.

Deadline reports that the series will head to Amazon Prime Video, which has yet to be confirmed by Amazon and Sony. According to the report, Spezialy has signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios and his work on Silk is included in the package. He will work with fellow executive producer Lauren Moon, known for her work as a writer on the Netflix series Atypical.

Spezialy has a great deal of experience bringing superheroes to life onscreen. In addition to his work on the hit HBO series Watchmen, he also co-created Ash Vs. Evil Dead for Starz. He’s also known for his work on The Leftovers, Desperate Housewives and Dead Like Me. The show will be overseen by Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal.

Silk follows the story of Korean-American superhero Cindy Moon, who debuted in a cameo in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in April 2014. In the comics, she gets her spider-like abilities from the very same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker, which means she has very similar abilities.

Silk got her own ongoing comic book series in March 2021, after the pandemic delayed its release. The character was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.

There is currently no word on when production will begin or the target release date.
