Fans will “freak out” over The Boys season 3

We’ve heard lots of interesting tidbits about the upcoming third season of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video. Apparently, the next season of the superhero satire is “insane” and far darker and bloodier than what’s come before. And considering some of the stuff the series got away with in its first two seasons, that’s saying a lot.

Nonetheless, that’s the line the cast and crew are sticking to, as Antony Starr (Homelander) recently teased to TV Line. “Oh, my God, is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I’ve had the good fortune of being involved with!” he said. “I had a great time on Season 2, and I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from Season 1, and really, it’s just the extension of that.”

"[Season 3] is my favorite season for many reasons that I can’t tell you about. I’m always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up, and it’s a pretty great feeling in Season 3 to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material. All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at Season 3."

It’s no easy task to stand out amid the flood of superhero shows and movies currently vying for our attention, but The Boys has managed by being uncompromising in its vision of a world where superheroes are not only real, but incredibly corrupt, most of them bought and paid for by a powerful multinational corporation called Vought. Homelander, a psychopathic twist on Superman, is the show’s breakout character — you never know what he might do when he’s onscreen, which keeps things exciting.

As for when we’ll get to see season 3, Starr says the cast and crew are “busting our little butts” filming through a pandemic “to get the product out to you guys so you can see it…t’s been a long time between drinks, but the next drink is going to be a good one, I promise.”

Starr compared the first two seasons to “drinking beer,” which in Season 3, “we’re moving on to a Long Island Iced Tea. So it’s going to be worth it, I promise. You guys are going to gorge feed on this sucker, and the payoff is going to be worth the wait!”

A video game based on The Boys is coming?

The Boys has been making a lot of interesting moves lately. To start, it’s added The Walking Dead veteran Laurie Holden (Andrea) to the cast for season 3. Then there was this intriguing question from the official Twitter account:

Are they just asking a question to get the fans talking, or are they actually planning a video game based on The Boys? Probably the first, but you never know: there’s already a spinoff show in the works, after all.
