Succession season 3 is coming this fall!
By Dan Selcke
HBO’s corporate family drama Succession swept the Emmys after its second season, picking up awards for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (for Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy), Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and more. And it deserved them. The show is really good, playing out kind of a like a modern-day Game of Thrones where all the characters are Lannisters.
The show tells the story of a super-rich family thrown into uncertainly after patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) seems to be losing his grip on his media empire. Who will take over for him when the time comes? According to TheWrap, we’ll find out what happens next this fall. They even had a little synopsis:
"Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy begins Season 3 in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war."
Inject it directly into my veins, please and thank you.
How many seasons will Succession run?
It seems like we’re about to enter the back half of Succession. Speaking to The Times, executive producer Georgia Pritchett talked about showrunner Jesse Armstrong’s thoughts on the matter: “I think the maximum would be five seasons, but possibly more like four,” she said. “We’re at the end of filming season three, so at this point Jesse is saying only one more. But that happens every time. We’ve got a good end in sight.”
That’d be fine with me; there’s only so long you can keep the battle for succession going without overstaying your welcome. Here’s hoping season 3 (and whatever we get beyond that) is as strong as seasons 1 and 2.
