If you’ve been watching Loki on Disney+, then you’ve likely already fallen in love with the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Sylvie. Played brilliantly by Sophie Di Martino, Sylvie is an alternate universe variant of of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief, and every bit as mischievous as her counterpart. Watching Hiddleston have a scene partner in crime is everything I never knew I wanted, and has somehow managed to increase Loki’s appeal ten-fold.

As Loki and Sylvie have been traveling through time and space trying to elude the multi-dimension TVA, many fans can’t help but compare it to Doctor Who. I mean, we’ve got time travel, impending doom, and all kinds of sci-fi concepts. What with rumors that Jodie Whittaker may be leaving the role of the Doctor soon, some have even wondered if Di Martino could replace her. And what does Di Martino think of that?

Could Sophie di Martino replace Jodie Whittaker on Doctor Who?

In an interview with Radio Times, Di Martino agreed that there are similarities between Loki and Doctor Who. “I see what they mean – the duo, as well. We’re each other’s companion!” she said.

And as for whether she’d ever consider hopping into the TARDIS herself? “I wouldn’t turn my nose up at it, but I haven’t really given it much thought, to be honest. I haven’t read any of that stuff.”

Usually, Doctors stick around for about three seasons at the time. With Whittaker’s third season approaching, it seems like about the right for her to leave. One of the alleged frontrunners to replace her is It’s A Sin star Olly Alexander, although his manager recently squashed the rumors.

As of now, there is no confirmation that Whittaker is actually leaving the role, so we’ll have to sit tight and wait to see how that plays out. But hey, if they’re looking for options, I nominate Sophie Di Martino.
