After spending 15 seasons as Dean Winchester on Supernatural, Jensen Ackles will play the superhero Soldier Boy on Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, meaning he’ll be about as far away from Dean as he can be. While his Supernatural character was a do-gooder, the superheroes on The Boys are traditionally power-mad overgrown children who give into their worst impulses at the drop of a hat. Homelander (Antony Starr) is the most obvious example of this, but let’s see if Soldier Boy can give him a run for his money.

At the least, the shoot looks like it’s very intense. I say this because Ackles recently posted a couple of selfies from himself screaming into the camera after filming The Boys season 3 late at night. “Just trying to cope with this shit,” he wrote. Maybe a glass of warm milk…?

I mean, yeesh, he looks like he’s about to kill someone. Or eat them. Or…well, you fill in the blanks yourself.

Jared Padalecki commens on Jensen Ackles’ wild selfie

Ackles and his longtime Supernatural costar Jared Padalecki sparred a bit on Twitter recently when Padalecki said he was “gutted” that no one had told him about the upcoming Supernatural that Ackles was producing. But his comment on Ackles’ new post indicates that they’ve buried the hatchet. “Great,” he wrote. “Now I’m gonna have nightmares.”

Took the words outta my mouth.
