Toss a coin to your Witcher, or maybe a mobile device. A new augmented reality (AR) game based on The Witcher franchise is on the horizon, and it will give players the opportunity to defeat some of the monsters Geralt of Rivia regularly runs into.
CD Projekt Red, which develops the popular Witcher video games, revealed last week that The Witcher: Monster Slayer will launch worldwide on July 21, 2021. This game is being developed by Spokko and takes place before the events of CD Projekt’s games.
In Monster Slayer, players will assume the role of a Witcher, hunting and defeating the many monsters of the Continent. According to CD Projekt Red, the game will embrace “location-based gameplay” similar to that of Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite:
"In Monster Slayer, players will see the world around them transformed into the dark-fantasy realm known from The Witcher universe. As a freshly trained witcher themselves, they will engage with location-based gameplay and advanced augmented reality features to track down and hunt bloodthirsty monsters lurking nearby."

The Witcher mobile game will be available for Android and iOS
With the popularity of The Witcher franchise, there’s little doubt fans will jump on the opportunity to put themselves in a Witcher’s shoes. Fortunately, the new mobile game will be available for both Android and iOS, so fans can enjoy the gameplay regardless of what kind of smartphone they’re using.
Android users are at an advantage, however, with Spokko announcing that anyone with an Android device can pre-register for the game using Google Play. This will grant them access to The Witcher: Monster Slayer as soon as it drops, as well as other cool features like the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword, which enables them to accumulate more experience.
It’s an exciting time to be a fan of The Witcher, particularly with the second season of Netflix’s show and WitcherCon right around the corner. This game offers another thing to look forward to. Those interested in playing can learn more about The Witcher: Monster Slayer on its official website.
