What if Hawkeye and the Hulk combined? What if Okoye fought the Scarlet Witch? What if Star-Lord led the Avengers? Marvel is getting into all that and more:

Loki is almost at an end, but Marvel isn’t going to let us wait long before airing another original series. Next on the slate is What If…?, an anthology show that looks at paths not taken in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Or at least, that’s the high-minded way of saying it. Another way is that the show is an excuse to have fun mixing and matching characters and scenarios and seeing what happens. What if Killmonger saved Tony Stark in the first Iron Man movie? What if King T’Challa was the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy? What if Peggy Carter got hold of Captain America’s shield and became a superhero in her own right? All of this and more is explored in the trailer below:

There’s a lot of voice talent from the MCU here. We can hear Michael Rooker as Yondu and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter in the trailer. According to IMDb (which isn’t always reliable, so take this with a grain of salt), the show will also include Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd and Sebastian Stan. Jeffrey Wright voices Uatu The Watcher, who observes these multiple timeline shenanigans without interfering…although we’ll see if that lasts.

Big names like Chris Evans, Chris Pratt and Robert Downey Jr. are absent, but What If…? does feature the final performance by Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last year from colon cancer. You can hear him towards the end of the trailer.

What If…? premieres on August 11 on Disney+.

Next. The Wheel of Time and Doctor Who are coming to Comic-Con, Marvel and DC skip it. dark
