Sequel to Lena Headey’s Gunpowder Milkshake already in the works, and more stuff

Gunpowder Milkshake, a movie where Lena Headey and Karen Gillan play a mother-daughter assassin team who team up to fight a violent criminal syndicate alongside the help of some other iconic action stars, including Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett and Carla Gugino. It looks great, and I will definitely watch it when it drops on Netflix on Wednesday, July 14, in just two days!

The movie looks good, although of course it could be a flop. Netflix apparently doesn’t think so, though, as The Hollywood Reporter has it that there’s already a sequel in development. There are no details beyond that. Let’s just hope that Lena Headey’s character survives the first movie so she can keep kicking ass for many more movies to come.

Game of Thrones stars join Blade Runner and Doctor Who

Headey isn’t the only Game of Thrones veteran getting new gigs. Digital Spy reports that Jessica Henwick (Nymeria Sand) has joined the cast of Blade Runner: Black Lotus, a new animated series set between the events of the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner and the 2017 folow-up Blade Runner 2049. Henwick will play Elle, a female replicant (a bioengineered being) created for a secret and unknown purpose.

The cast is impressive, and also includes The Handmaid’s Tale star Samira Wiley and Succession’s Brian Cox. The show is a coproduction between Adult Swim and Crunchyroll. Expect more info at Comic-Con later this month.

Finally, Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) will return to the role of the Meddling Nun in a series of new Doctor Who audio adventures due for release in September. The Missy and the Monk stories star Michelle Gomez as Missy — a popular manifestation of popular Doctor Who villain the Master and Rufus Hound as her reluctant companion the Monk as they go around the galaxy causing mayhem.
