One of the unexpected bonuses in developing series for Disney+ is that Marvel Studios has been able to fully develop characters who would otherwise be in the background of the movies, if they appeared at all. When Kathryn Hahn made her Marvel as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision, fans were delighted, and now Marvel boss Kevin Feige says that she’ll be back.

In an exclusive interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Feige says that the team is eager to work with Kathryn Hahn and Agatha Harkness in the future. There might not be a date he can reveal, but it’s coming. “Someday. Someday soon. You will see Kathryn Hahn in Knives Out 2 next, then maybe an assortment of other things. But within the MCU, it can’t come soon enough. Let’s put it that way.”

Kevin Feige reflects on how Kathyrn Hahn became Agatha Harkness

Feige says Marvel Studios had been trying to find a home for Agatha Harkness for years. Once they decided to put her in WandaVision, they had the challenge of actually casting the role.

“We were all fans of [Kathryn Hahn] at Marvel Studios,” Feige said. “And she had come in for a general meeting coincidentally right around the time we were trying to cast Agnes-slash-Agatha. It was one of those, ‘Why didn’t we think of this before?’ Louis D’Esposito [co-president of Marvel Studios] actually sat down and had a general [meeting] with her. And it very quickly went from that: She’s great. What could she do for us someday? Anyway, who’s going to play Agatha? We really have to cast this part. Wait a second… It was honestly almost exactly like that.”

It was a match made in Marvel heaven. Fans were in love with Agatha from the very beginning. The more you watch Hahn’s inspired performance, the more you appreciate how incredible she is in the role.

Hahn signed on for Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2 in May. She’s in high demand right now, but it’s reassuring that Feige is looking forward to her return.
