Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are coming back to play Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader! What will their inevitable rematch look like?
The Mandalorian was the first-ever live-action Star Wars TV series, but it will be far from the last. Disney is readying a whole fleet of the things, starting with The Book of Boba Fett later this year and continuing with series about Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Cassian Andor, Lando Calrissian and many more.
Perhaps the most intriguing is the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, which will be set after Revenge of the Jedi but before A New Hope, and once again star Ewan McGregor as the exiled Jedi master. And what’s more, the show will feature the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, which can only mean we’re in for a Jedi-vs-padawan rematch!
Naturally, this prospect has fans very excited. YouTube’s own stryder HD even mocked up a concept trailer that strings together shots and lines of dialog from various movies to give us an idea of how epic the real deal may be when it finally arrives. Have a watch:
Will the actual Obi-Wan show feature appearances from characters like Darth Maul, Mace Windu and Qui-Gon Jinn? We don’t know, but they already got McGregor and Christensen to reprise their prequel roles — I wouldn’t be shocked if there were a couple other surprises in store for us. And Liam Neeson, at least, sounds game.
We don’t have a premiere date for the Obi-Wan Kenobi show yet, but expect it on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
