Antonio Banderas joins all-star cast of Indiana Jones 5
By Ariba Bhuvad
It’s official, Indiana Jones 5 (title pending) is going to be the best movie of the franchise. Deadline reports that Antonio Banderas will be joining Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Mads Mikkelsen in the upcoming film.
It feels past due for Banderas to join the Indiana Jones franchise, and I’m surprised it hadn’t happened before now. The guy did play Zorro, after all!
As of now, no details have been released about who Banderas will play in the film, but if I had to guess, I’d say he’d make a great villain. The perfect scenario would be if he and Mikkelsen played villains and teamed up against the famed adventuring archaeologist. Now that would be a movie for the ages.
Of course, we won’t know for sure who Antonio Banderas will play until the movie comes out on July 29, 2022. It’s well into production at this point, although things were thrown off a bit when Harrison Ford injured himself on set.
Antonio Banderas takes on Indiana Jones
Banderas takes on this role after wrapping up production on Sony’s Uncharted film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, Uncharted itself starting life as a riff on Indiana Jones. This movie is also gearing up to be an epic production so I’m excited to see how it turns out.
Most people know Banderas as Puss in Boots from the Shrek franchise, but his claim to fame is playing Zorro.
I’d like to see some of that sword action in Indiana Jones. Can you imagine him running through an ancient ruin with a sword in hand? I can see it all now: Hannibal and Zorro take on Indiana Jones. Doesn’t that sound just perfect?
