Nike readies unofficial Star Wars shoes honoring The Empire Strikes Back
By WiC Staff
For some, shoes are things you wear on your feet to get from place to place. To others, they’re a lifestyle. Sneakerheads take sneakers ver seriously, and when a big company puts out an unofficial, unbranded tribute to a popular cultural phenomenon, their soles itch to be part of it.
I actually don’t know if that last part is true, but I do know that Kotaku is reporting that Nike is putting out three new pairs of shoes that unofficially honor The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star Wars movie from 1980. Adidas technically has the Star Wars license, but apparently Nike will make a new line of shoes with color schemes reminiscent of a property, let the fans name them and just run with it. For instance, fans have named these upcoming shoes the “Boba Fett” on account of their “Carbon Green/Black-Ghost-Pollen” coloring:
Then there’s the “Darth Vader,” all in black but for a silver strip at the bottom:
And finally, there’s the “Bossk,” named after one of the bounty hunters Vader sent out in Empire:
You’re playing with fire, Nike.
When are Nike’s Star Wars shoes coming out?
All of these shoes are scheduled to roll out this November.
