What do you do when you’ve played one of the most iconic television roles of the last 10 years? If you’re Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen for eight seasons on Game of Thrones, you become a superhero. Clarke has officially signed up to star in the Disney+ show Secret Invasion, which means she’ll soon be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That said, we don’t know who she’s playing, and she’s not spilling the beans. After all, Marvel is very serious about preventing leaks. “I’m already scared,” Clarke said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “The first people I spoke to from Marvel were their security team and I am convinced that there is a man outside my house. There’s been a car parked there for a long time, and I swear to God, he’s undercover.”

That said, hasn’t Clarke’s experience keeping secrets from the set of Game of Thrones prepared her for this kind of thing? “That’s what I thought, but they schooled me,” Clarke said. “And so, I don’t know what to do.”

Is Emilia Clarke playing Abigail Brand in Secret Invasion?

Even though Clarke is keeping her lips sealed, we have some idea who she might play in the series. The show sounds like it’s going to adapt a storyline from Marvel comics where Skrull aliens use their shape-shifting abilities to infiltrate the corridors of power on Earth; it’s a secret invasion, if you will. Plenty of fans have suggested that Clarke would be a good fit for the role of Abigail Brand, the commander of S.W.O.R.D., an organization dedicated to dealing with extraterrestrial threats.

S.W.O.R.D. is the sister organization to S.H.I.E.L.D.; sword and shield, geddit? We already know that Samuel L. Jackson will be in Secret Invasion as S.H.I.E.L.D. commander Nick Fury, so adding in Abigail Brand could make for some fun inter-agency tension. And Marvel already introduced S.W.O.R.D. in WandaVision, and they rarely add an element idly.

In the comics, Abigail Brand has green hair, so if we see Clarke ever walking around with a dye job, it’ll be a dead giveaway.

Expect Secret Invasion to come out sometime in 2022 on Disney+.
