The Devil will take his final bow in a few short weeks as the team behind Lucifer revealed that Lucifer season 6 will premiere on September 10, 2021. The announcement came during the Netflix Geeked: Lucifer panel at Comic-Con at Home, marking the final time that the show will be represented at the popular fan convention.
Here are the details about season 6 from Netflix: “This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time. The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella and Dan. Bring tissues.”
There will be no last minute hail Mary for the show that saw not one, not two but three last-minute resurrections after being cancelled at Fox in 2018.
Lucifer season 6 will premiere in September
This is welcome news for fans, who have been waiting for the final season premiere date as soon as season 5B dropped in May.
The journey to the final season of Lucifer started in June 2020. After a huge reception for the first half of season 5, the streamer granted a sixth and final season for the show. With the pandemic casting uncertainty in Hollywood, though, it would be several months before the cast and crew could return to set to finish filming the back half of season 5, which had been interrupted by the shutdown.
Work on season 6 resumed in the spring, with the final season wrapping before 5B aired. It was a bittersweet moment seeing cast members sharing behind the scenes images from their last days on set knowing that eight episodes from 5B remained along with the final ten episodes from season 6.
However, despite the sadness, there was also a lot of excitement after the second half of season 5 dropped in May. Fans were left with huge moments in the season finale and the promise that there would be answers aplenty in the final season.
Though it will be sad to see Lucifer come to an end, there is no question that the Devil will go out with anything less than a very big bang.
