Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd battle ghosts in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Adrian Brody pulls worms out of his nose in Chapelwaite, and other scary trailers:
The fall is coming, and that means Halloween, and that means spooky stuff. Whether you want want to stay at home and watch TV or go to the movies, there’s plenty of scary fare to entertain you, starting with Chapelwaite, a new series coming to EPIX on August 22.
Also, be warned: this is easily the grossest and most disturbing trailer in this roundup:
Based on Stephen King’s 1978 short story “Jerusalem’s Lot,” Chapelwaite stars Adrian Brody as Captain Charles Boone, a man who relocates his family of three children to their ancestral home of Chapelwaite after his wife dies. Then things get weird, like pulling-worms-out-of-your-nose weird.
Next, we have a teaser for the upcoming tenth season of American Horror Story. This season, called Double Feature, will be divided into two halves: “Red Tide” looks like it will be about vampires, while “Death Valley” will bring in big-headed aliens:
American Horror Story season 10 will premiere on August 25.
Shifting gears completely, the new season of What We Do In The Shadows — about comedy about a group of vampires living on Statan Island with their hapless familiar Guillermo — premieres on September 2. See what’s in store:
If you ask me, What We Do In The Shadows is one of the funniest new shows to come out in the last few years, so I’ll definitely be watching this.
Moving right along, SyFy and USA are mounting a new show about Chucky, the evil doll that likes to kill. Watch the trailer below:
The original Chucky movie, Child’s Play, came out in 1988, and since then the series has gotten consistently more comedic. It looks like this show will go full horror. Chucky premieres on October 12.
Sticking with SyFy, they have a Day of The Dead series coming out in October. This show looks a bit more light-hearted:
Day of the Dead is an homage to George Romero’s classic zombie movies, starting with Night of the Living Dead way back in 1968.
And finally, November will bring us Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ghostbusters follow-up directed by Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman:
That’s Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard in the lead role. In fact, the whole thing has a bit of a Stranger Things feel to it; less comedy and more Steven Spielberg-ian awe over the supernatural. Ghostbusters: Afterlife hits theaters on November 11.
And that should be plenty to get you good and scared this fall! Happy screaming.
