After a triumphant debut in 2020, Star Trek: Picard aims to continue its bold mission in season 2. The pandemic delayed filming until early 2021, but the series is making up for lost time and the show will return for season 2 soon.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 release date

Filming is underway, so no release date is presently available for Picard season 2. Thanks to Jeri Ryan, we know that the show started filming in February 2021. According to John De Lancie, Picard is filming seasons 2 and 3 back to back to help make up for lost time during the pandemic.

It would make sense for Paramount to release season 2 before the end of 2021 and then have season 3 ready to go in early 2022 now that over a year has passed since the first season premiered in 2020.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 cast

Based on the events of season 1, there’s no reason that the cast from the freshman season won’t carry over into season 2. This includes Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Isa Briones (Soji Asha), Alison Pill (Agnes Jurati), Santiago Cabrera (Chris Rios), Michelle Hurd (Raffi Musiker), Harry Treadaway (Narek) and Evan Evagora (Elnor).

John De Lancie will join the cast in season 2 as Picard’s charismatic nemesis Q, and Whoopi Goldberg is returning to the franchise as Guinan. There is also a strong chance of seeing Brent Spiner again, along with other familiar faces from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Star Trek: Picard season 2 trailer

The first teaser for season 2 revealed that Picard’s old nemesis Q is returning. Q and Picard always had the best banter on TNG, so having them together again is an exciting thing.

You will be able to find the full trailer for season 2 here once it’s available.
