Star Wars: The Bad Batch renewed for season 2 on Disney+

Just as Star Wars: The Bad Batch heads into its season finale, Disney announces that it’ll be coming back for another round.

The first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is about to wrap up, but Disney is laying groundwork for the future. Just today, they announced that Clone Force 99 — known as the Bad Batch — will be back for more adventures in a second season.

“Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+,” said Michael Paull, President of Disney+ and ESPN+. “As the dedicated streaming home for the Star Wars franchise, we can’t wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series.”

Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind the Star Wars cinematic universe Disney is currently trying to build, also weighed in. “The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney+ and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch,” he said.

The Bad Batch picks up after the events of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, as Emperor Palpatine has taken control of the Republic and turned it into the Empire with the help of the clone troopers he programmed to carry out his nefarious orders. Always the rebels, the Bad Batch (mostly) was unaffected by Order 66, and are now finding a new mission in life alongside another clone named Omega.

Part 1 of The Bad Batch’s two-part season finale airs tomorrow, August 6 on Disney+. After that, we wait until 2022 for season 2.
