The Boys season 3 introduces Starlight’s superhero ex-boyfriend
By Dan Selcke
The Boys season 3 is coming, and Amazon is hyping it with a series of videos from the Vought News Network, or VNN (geddit?). Hosted by the Tucker Carlson-esque Cameron Coleman, these monthly videos tease what’s to come in season 3 in the show’s typically satirical style. Watch the newest below:
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the video is the introduction of Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, a superhero who used to go by the name Drummer Boy and lead the Young Americans, a wholesome superhero team that Starlight (Erin Moriarty) was also a part of. At one point, they were involved. “Rumors are also swirling around Supersonic’s relationship with Starlight during his Drummer Boy days and whether old sparks could reignite following this handsome hero’s ultra-clean comeback,” Coleman says.
Knowing The Boys, Supersonic’s comeback is as far from “ultra-clean” as it could possibly be, but we’ll find out more when the new season drops. It probably has something to do the Global Wellness Center, a rehab center for Supes run by Vought. “When there’s no more missions, when the fans move on, and the lights of fame dim, where do you turn to fill that void?” a commercial asks us. “Alcohol? Adrenochrome-laced cocaine? Heroin enemas? Vase making? Do you even know what rock bottom is anymore?” Why do I feel like we’re going to learn exactly what superhero rock bottom looks like?
What will happen in The Boys season 3?
Other takeaways from the video include the Deep (Chace Crawford) continuing to rail against the Church of the Collective and their “unholy obsession with Fresca,” Vought ceasing the production of Compound V after the events of season 2, and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) rejoining the team and prepping for a big race.
There’s no release date for The Boys season 3 as of yet, but clearly things are ramping up.
