Vikings was a smash hit for History. After six seasons, the show faded into the sunset only to give rise to a spinoff, Vikings: Valhalla, coming to Netflix. The new series is set over 100 years after the events in Vikings’ final season.

The show started production in early 2020 and then was shut down when the pandemic started. Production resumed in fall 2020 and continued into 2021, but there were several setbacks due to COVID-19. As of August 2021 there is no word on whether filming has resumed.

There is no premiere date yet, but we know that Netflix has ordered 24 episodes of the series for now, with more likely to come.

These men and women will blaze a path as they fight for survival in the ever changing and evolving world."

More about Vikings: Valhalla

Though the events of the previous Vikings series take place long before the new series, there may be some crossovers in the works. Vikings star John Kavanagh is reportedly returning in Vikings: Valhalla as the Ancient Seer, which means he could pop up in visions in the new series.

In fact, thanks to the mythology-heavy nature of the series, anyone can show up in flashbacks and visions, so look for cameos and Easter eggs throughout.
