Superman & Lois will finally conclude its epic first season next week on The CW. Although we’ve gotten just 15 episodes, it feels like the show has been on a lot longer, and you’ll hear no complaints from me about that. When it comes to DCTV shows, Superman & Lois is on the top of the game in every way.

Set after the events of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event back in late 2019/early 2020, Superman & Lois follows the Kent family’s move to Smallville as Superman/Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Bitsie Tulloch) raise two teenage sons. It’s Superman like we’ve never seen him before!

The move to Smallville brought the Clarks in contact with the season’s villain: businessman Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner). It just so happens that Edge is also Superman’s half-brother Tal-Rho and has plans to implant Kryptonian consciousness into the minds of Smallville residents to create an unbeatable personal army. Pretty heavy stuff for small town life.

The penultimate episode of season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Lois and Clark’s son Jordan (Alex Garfin) being abducted by Tal-Rho. And now Tal-Rho has inserted the consciousness of his father Zeta-Rho (A.C. Peterson) into Jordan’s mind.

The season 1 finale trailer gives us a glimpse of the madness ahead. Watch below:

Things aren’t looking too hot for the residents of Smallville, are they?

I’m particularly looking forward to John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) teaming up with Superman to stop Tal-Rho. He first joined this season as a potential villain, but after getting to now Clark, his loyalties have now shifted to the Kent family. This is the team-up we’ve been waiting for all season long.

I have a feeling that Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) is going to prove rather useful as well as he attempts to save his brother and help his superhero father. It’s about time Superman & Lois gave him his moment to shine!

Who knows how the season 1 finale will end, but one thing is certain: Superman & Lois has proven that it is here to stay, and is proof that old stories can be told in new and exciting ways.

The Superman & Lois season one finale airs on The CW on Tuesday, August 17.
