Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is coming to Netflix. The critically acclaimed comic book series has never been translated into a movie or a series and fans are eager to see the story come to life. We’ve gathered all of the information you need to know about the new series ahead of its debut.

The Sandman synopsis

The series will be based on Gaiman’s graphic novels which follow the story of Dream, also known as Morpheus, who rules over the Dreaming. After being captured and held captive, he returns to his kingdom decades later and tries to bring order to the realm. Dream is one of the seven Endless, including Despair, Death and Desire.

Gaiman has built a vibrant world with these characters that has led to several comic book spin offs over the years, which means that Netflix could create a whole Sandman universe if the series is well received.

The Sandman cast

Casting for The Sandman has been on the minds of fans and Hollywood actors alike. Casting buzz started building as soon as the project was announced.

The following actors have been announced for the series: Tom Sturridge (Dream/Morpheus), Gwendoline Christie (Lucifer), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death), Mason Alexander Park (Desire), Donna Preston (Despair), Razane Jammal (Lyta Hall), Joely Richardson (Ethel Cripps), Niamh Walsh (Young Ethel Cripps), David Thewlis (John Dee), Kyo Ra (Rose Walker), Paton Oswalt (Voice of Matthew the Raven), Jenna Coleman (Johanna Constantine), Sandra James Young (Unity Kincaid), Boyd Holbrook (The Corinthian), Charles Dance (Roderick Burgess), Vivienne Acheampong (Lucienne), Sanjeev Bhaskar (Cain) and Asim Chaudry (Abel).
