It was all about The Walking Dead at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday, and fans were treated to new sneak peek photos from Fear the Walking Dead season 7.
Star Karen David (Grace) shared the photos on Instagram, and from the look of things, the situation is as bleak as ever for the survivors.
Terrifying new photos reveal bleak landscape in Fear the Walking Dead season 7
In season 6, insane cult leader Teddy saw his vision come to life when he succeeded in launching a series of missiles from the abandoned U.S.S. Pennsylvania submarine. At least one of them was armed with a nuclear bomb, turning this already chaotic world upside down.
The first two photos reveal Morgan and Grace trying to keep Baby Morgan alive amid the nuclear fallout. They’re relatively safe inside the submarine but they need to find food, and that means donning the radiation gear when they need to venture out.
Daniel, Charlie, Sarah, Luciana and Rabbi Jacob escaped the disaster with the help of Althea’s love interest Isabelle, who pilots a CRM helicopter and happened to be available for an evacuation. While we don’t know where the group was taken, it looks like they’re in a nice place where they were at least able to clean up. The first photo reveals Sarah and Luciana in a stone-walled den with lots of rifles on the walls:
The next photo shows Daniel reunited with Althea. They’re looking at something with concerned expressions.
Dwight and Sherry were able to seek shelter in a cellar with some people they encountered prior to the blast. Enough time has passed that they have moved out of the cellar to another location, with armed soldiers all about. They’re also outside, which suggests they’re far enough from the blast site to be able to walk around unprotected.
June and John Dorie Sr. were able to get into a storm drain before the explosion, and they might not be the only ones there given that June seems to be hiding:
Lastly, Victor Strand thought he was going to ride out the end of the world in style in his new friend’s museum, but it looks like he might have reunited with some of his rangers. He’s armed and he’s with another man who has a gun, so it looks like Victor might be forming a new group:
The photos reveal that most of the core cast members made it out of the initial blast alive, but there are several people missing. Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia Clark was trapped in a fallout shelter before the blast and no one knows where she is.
The big question leading into season 7, aside from how the group will survive the latest — and arguably biggest — calamity, is whether they will meet other people from some of the other communities that exist in the TWD Universe. Fear the Walking Dead takes place a few years behind The Walking Dead and World Beyond, but the Civic Republic Military is already an established presence on the show. Could the soldiers seen in these new photos be a clue? Only time will tell.
Fear the Walking Dead season 7 returns on October 17, with new episodes airing early for AMC+ subscribers.
